Its days like these where i have alot of time to sit, stare and reflect. Reflect on those things that cross your mind, but never really stop to think about. Like long distance relationships for instance. I, myself would never bother with something so demanding. I mean, its different if you were dating for a while, then you or your other half had to go somewhere for a certain amount of time. Or whether its just that you think its a "good idea" to look for love thousands of miles away. The fact is that its not in any way realistic. Because think about it - the time you spend trying to "make it work", you could be with someone right here. Where you are. Right now.

I mean, its sorta like how people think that marriage ruins a relationship. If you can be living with the person you love, living each day as it comes, no strings attached, then why is that such a big deal. Marriage, just leaves room for divorce. Me ? I wanna get married. The whole wedding aspect isn't like a massive deal for me. Think of all the people secretly wanting your marriage to fail, so why shout them a meal, and let them have all the fun they want at your open bar.

And what about love itself. When did it become the norm, to search a search for a person, that you make yourself love, before you actually feel the feeling. People are so quick to say that they love someone, and why ? No, really, why. So he fits, the requirements that you have. He's tall, got dark hair, and he makes you laugh, and your friend says he treats girls really nicely. Hmm, righto then, why isn't he already taken. Isn't it a tad naive to think that he was predestined for you. Though love is a beautiful thing, theres so much pain that comes with it. With love there is compromise, love makes you act foolish, love leads to eventual cheating, which then leads to heartbreak, and then you have to start the cycle all over again.

Love is an all 'round painful emotion, that makes you want to rip your heart out, and never have to deal with it again. It makes you want to scream in frustration, cry in agony, jump for joy, and skip around wistfully when it all goes smoothly, but alltogether makes you want to die, right then and there when it all goes wrong. So why put yourself through it ?

Because if you can somehow overcome the hurdles that love brings, then you've got something incredible.

  1. Why people put themselves through it ? because all the happy moments you have with that person are worth the pain.

  2. this is an aaamzing piece of writing. i like how you finished it. as i was reading i thought maybe you were trying to say love wasnt worth it, and you shouldnt put yourself through it and stuff.
but then the last line! :) wicked xx

  3. It reminded me of this beautiful C S Lewis quote (one of my favourites!):

'To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.'
